Winter activities

Skiing on your doorstep

Steep slopes, long downhill runs, modern transport facilities, welcoming and cosy places to stop for refreshments and stunning panoramic views: Mürren – Schilthorn, the Bernese Oberland's highest-altitude winter sports area, makes every snow sports fan's wishes come true.

Sledging

The Schilthorn area is perfect for sledging. The new Apollo run leads from Schiltgrat station via Schiltalp and Gimmeln back to Mürren.
The Bobrun sledge run and footpath start on our local mountain, the Allmendhubel, and lead into the village centre.
The sledge run from Winteregg to Lauterbrunnen is open provided there is sufficient snow cover in the valley.

Snowshoe hiking

If you like to take things a little bit easier, you will find snowy forests and absolute tranquillity off the beaten track, interrupted only occasionally by filtered sounds from the air or slopes. Making tracks with snowshoes and wading through deep snow is the perfect recipe for inner equilibrium.
A varied snowshoe trail leads from Aegerten via Mittelberg and Känelegg and the panorama trail back to the village. Duration approx. 1.5 hours. The trail is signposted.

Curling & Ice skating

The open-air ice rink at the Alpine Sports Centre is prepared for ice skaters, hockey players and curling enthusiasts from December to March. Weekend open-air curling tournaments are held during the winter season. The rinks can also be hired for training sessions and competitions and our "ice men" offer introductory lessons for beginners or groups. Curling stones and shoe protectors are available.
